Hier noch eine Mail von Eduardo aus Spanien die am besten Campingsex beschreibt:
...it happened five or six years ago. back then i was around 20 years old and i was deep into punk music. anyway, it was a lazy early morning -around 2 or 3am- and i was watching telly on the sofa at my home. it was a really boring night. i was doing zapping when i saw a programme about berlin made by the catalan channel tv3: in fact, it was a second showing of a 80s documentary about the -back then- new scene of the city. i remember wanting to watch it because i wanted to visit berlin in summertime -i did it years later with a mate, but this is not the case-, and because it seemed really cool, interesting, and it was before the fall of berlin wall. there was small sections about fashion designers, painters, clubs to go... and music -by the way, at that time i had a vhs video and i decided to tape on it, just for fun. but about the music, the documentary showed two live bands that were playing in squats around kreuzberg. i don't remember nothing at all about the first one, but i was so impressed with the second one that i was amazed: that band was camping sex. i think it was a mix of different things that blew me away. at first, the band looks: there was the guitarist, a kinda-sinister-looking guy with an extreme jesus & mary chain haircut playing the same notes again and again. then you had the bass player, a blonde thin girl -i guess her head appears on the cover of the 1914 ep- with a psychedelich t-shirt and a blank expression on her face. on the drums you had a bold guy with sunglasses playing drums and watching straight at the camera. and in the front, you had the singer/guitarist singing in a desperate way, between anger, frustration and agony. the mix of all of them, the place and the song -the most true and extreme music i ever heard- were an instant shock to me. it was the perfect music for a nervous breakdown. it was not fast, but it was one thousands more intense than all the bands i heard before... and i liked a lot. while they were playing, you could feel all the raw energy they give off. they weren't poseurs, they were real and they were honest. as a result, i felt in love immediately with the band. furthermore, i also was so happy because i taped the show on a video! the documentary finnished and i knew i would never listen to the band again... until today. the funniest thing is that during all these years i didn't think about searching in the web for camping sex because i was sure i wouldn't be able to find anything. but i don't know why, yesterday i decided to search for it and it was when i found your web page: i was wrong! so now i'm writing this email...
